Known as the voice of Chicago racing, he called races at venues including Arlington Park, Hawthorne Race Course, and Sportsman's Park from 1959 to 1992. He was also Publicity Director at Hawthor WebbHis memorable calls include Fields of Omagh, a horse he co-owned, twice winning Australia's premier Weight-for-Age race, the WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley; and Better Loosen Up's victory in the 1990 Japan Cup. Martin called races in Dubai, PNG, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Canada.
