WebJul 22, 2012 · The ASAT is actually quite different sounding than a traditional Fender Tele. It really comes down to the pickups. The MFD pickups used in the ASATs, even the ASAT Classic, do not sound like a traditional Tele pickup. They have much more output and are more aggressive sounding. Less of the traditional Tele chime and not as much clarity IMO.

But if you play with a lot of gain you are probably not going down the Tele road anyway.
